We were treated to some great disc golf today by Craigentinny Primary School. They have a some very athletic students who took their skills to our Red Course with some style by matching a few of the best scores to date by Primary students. The winner Andrew topped 19 of his fellow classmates and set a new Primary School course record of 30 strokes!! +3 for the day. An amazing score when you consider any score under a 50 for a first timer to be legitimate score. All in all there were 9 scores of 40 strokes or better, Craigentinny has raised the bar for Primary Schools across Scotland.
Nice Work!

East Lothian Disc Golf Day

A day of disc golf at Foxlake Friday during Dunbar Civic Week was packed full of events for everyone and will not soon be forgotten. We hosted three disc golf events over the course of the day starting with our first event that was not only exciting the first of its kind in Scotland but also is in contention for the longest name in sports history, The Dunbar Civic Week East Lothian Schools Community Sports Hub Games Disc Golf Invitation (over one word per player). We finished The Invitational in time to tee off our Dunbar Doubles event which evolved into the Parent/child doubles as we had entered 3 Father-daughter and two Father-son teams. No sooner did we settle a necessary playoff then our attention turned to our final event of the day The Foxlake Furious Five which is a timed highly disciplined event featuring all operating businesses at Foxlake Adventures. Sunny Dunny did not fail at Foxlake Friday and all present were enjoying a very pleasant day by the Lake.

Meet the next generation of East Lothian Disc Golf pioneers. I cannot emphasize enough how exciting it is to host an event for the future of disc golf in Scotland. These young people were not afraid to step out of the normal sports mold and have fun competing in a new event. Some of these Junior players were brave enough to represent their Schools as sole competitors and at their age have all of my respect.
This Primary Invitational included 9 pupils from P4-P7 representing 4 local schools from all over East Lothian.
We teed off after school on Friday with two cards of competition with one boys and one girls card each. The girls card was led by Law Primary's Annabelle C. for most of the round and with steady play she finished with a 44 on the Par 27 Red Course. The boys card of five had many ups and downs but with much practice and fine putting Cameron M. from King's Meadow scored two quick par 3's on the opening holes and stayed ahead for the remainder of the round. In the clubhouse Cameron posted a 33 only taking 6 bogie 4's on the 1609ft Red Course.  The team of players from King's Meadow took the top 3 spots in our stroke competition but it was Law Primary that dominated the games portion of our event. After placing 4th in the stroke competition Annabelle C. took matters into her own hands and out putted classmate Alasdair C. in a playoff, and out drove classmate Finley S. by 22ft in the distance competition.
All participants received a Latitude64 disc golf disc, medal of participation and wristband. A special Thank You goes to The Active East Lothian Community Sports Hub for not only supplying a players pack but sponsoring all entrants.

Dunbar Civic Week Doubles

PictureTeam C.--Jessica and Richard
We set out on the course for our second event of the day Dunbar Doubles. We had 4 teams from East Lothian and one team representing Dalkeith (Team ringer!). Like it was by design each team consisted of a Father-child. On the first 4 holes we each took turns with a birdie on the 9 hole, par 27, Red Course. Team Doc after storming out of the gate with 2 birdies on first three holes could not find the basket and faded in mid-course to team ScanFam. But in the end it was Team C that prevailed by taking the trophy ending the round with 2 birdies carding a -3 under 24 then polishing off team ScanFam by drilling the birdie on the first playoff hole.
On a side note both players from Team Chzburger  played very well while enjoying their first ever round of disc golf.

 Team                              Name                           Score

Great Day to play disc golf in Sunny Dunny and 30 pupils from Roseburn Primary were there to enjoy it. We saw some talent emerge as the low scores were tallied after their first ever round of disc golf. Mighty impressive stuff!!

200 Meters for Disc Golf #82

Today was one of those exhilarating days you just wish came with a cap so you could bottle it forever. Myself and ten others were graced with the opportunity to parade through North Berwick today with The Queens Baton for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth games. To be apart of the Relay means you have given much to the community so we were all in excellent company for the long 2 hour lead up to our  200 meters of glory. The Relay team was a well oiled machine of reassurance, we were treated to "Born to Run" by the Boss on our way to the staging areas, then a little Pharrell to keep our toes tapping before departing the Relay Van one by one at our prearranged segments. One after the other and more frequently official vehicles went past I knew the Baton was close, or I had been transported to a Tour de France stage. When I heard the roar of clapping I knew my time was near the flashes and beeps from the onlookers cameras were amazing, I couldn't tell if my feet were on the ground.
The skies remained sunny in North Berwick which added to the honor of carrying the Baton but before you can say 'hyzer flip' my time was over and I passed the Baton to number 83.  I am very proud to be a part of the Queens Relay and carry the Baton for for my contributions to East Lothian associated with disc golf. Thank You to everyone involved with Relay!!
Peace
