Today we celebrate our first 'National disc Golf Day' so it seemed only fitting to try and encapsulate the last few years in an attempt to celebrate what we have accomplished as a disc golf community. I enjoy tremendously introducing new people from all walks of life to disc golf, my favorite is when after about 5 holes one of the group will always state " hey, this is just like golf". Personally I must admit my arm is hanging like a cooked noodle due to all the golf I've played in just the last few weeks. At our little disc golf course in Dunbar we've entertained disc golfers from Finland, Sweden, California, a group on tour from the Netherlands as well as a few from each coast of Canada. Our sport is alive and well on a global scale and as players travel and vacation here they are learning to bring their discs because the word is getting out about the quality of courses
Our disc golf journey all started with an idea for a Triple Crown event which involved courses in Dunbar and Glasgow. This idea led to the formation of the Quaich Tour which quickly spread from 6 events in 2013 to what is now a 13 stop Tour with 154 unique players to date enjoying the best disc golf courses in Scotland with two events to go. (We also had a guest appearance by The Bristol Open in 2016) Our events have included so far three tournaments to benefit local Charities ensuring our sport assists the local community food banks and MFR Cash 4 Kids. We have hosted variety of events including Match play, University Team, Doubles, Stroke play, on 9,18 & 27 hole disc golf courses and one object course :) (which all took us back to the beginning) We have been a part of the European Tour for two years running bringing the best disc golfers from all across the globe to compete in Scotland, which last year included 16 Scottish players!! For a brief time we've seen local Pro players top the UK ratings list and place well earning cash at top European events. At a grass roots level there has been additional leagues and local events to allow recreational players enjoy disc golf with their families and friends in a not-so-competitive environment. We have hosted numerous demonstrations from Moray to the Borders and been featured in a National newspaper as a tool to fight childhood obesity. We have witnessed membership and volunteer efforts reach new heights which has a lovely knock on affect for all of us, as well as the brilliant after glow of being listed as #24 in the top 100 things to do with kids in a popular National magazine. Let's see where one more year will bring us. We have come a long way to evolve to a point that I hope we can all proudly say will not only mark the beginning of The Scottish Disc Golf Association in 2017 but see unparalleled growth in our sport. Cheers

The Bag Boy Company is a household name in the world of golf because of its unquestionable status of selling top-of-the-line, heavy-duty golf equipment such as carts, bags, cases, and training aids.
