My expectations of traveling to Estionia to play a Euro Tour event on this 21 hole course I thought would be measured by my ability as a player/competitor and what I learned is that my score was irrelevant.
The course is set on a beautifully undulating  cross country ski area, where staying on the fairway was paramount due to the tight tree lined nature of the holes and unforgiving rough. I quickly learned there was no shame in just pitching out and Trevor and I in the last two rounds stuck with our motto "just don't do anything stupid", because a 4 could turn into a 6+ in an instant.  The course length certainly made my legs and shoulder weary by the end and staying focused until the last putt was difficult to say the least. This course rocked, it beat me up, pointed out the flaws in my approach to the sport and left me wanting more.
But as I said my score was irrelevant, I would easily trade twice my strokes to experience the hospitality and camaraderie of this trip again. There was about 30 of us staying at Kallibasa a small B&B only a few hundred meters from the golf course. Siim was the master of ceremonies and he made sure we were all fed and happy by the end of the day. Luckily for us everyone spoke English (some better than I did), it was the common language of most of the Nations competing.  Each day we awoke to traditional healthy fresh food where we could lick our wounds from the round before over coffee and talked about how we would accept the challenges of the day. Afterward we returned to Kallisaba to regroup and prepare for dinner before that evenings festivities which usually included disc golf, basketball, ping pong, blanket volleyball,  and any other game we could invent sometimes late into the evening.
After watching the best players conquer the course in the final holes on Sunday and some long goodbyes after the awards we returned to Tallinn for a late dinner. On a tip from  Rasmus (TD) the Burger Factory was amazing and I would highly recommend a visit there for food when in the capital.

Cheers!! from the Blanket Volleyball World Champions
 See you next year!!
